Bridging the Gulf: the Euro-Bahrain Parliamentary Dialogue

On February 20-24, 2016, EGIC coordinated a trip for a European Delegation – led by Hon. Khalid Chaouki, President of the Cultural Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly, Union for the Mediterranean - to Manama, under the invitation of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

It was a tour meant to encourage a deeper understanding of Bahrain’s social, cultural and national dynamics as well as an opportunity for political dialogue through meetings with parliamentary and government officials of Bahrain.

This trips aim to encourage a deeper understanding of Bahrain's social, cultural and national dynamics, establishing constructive dialogues and generating areas of synergy. The European delegation was made by Members of the European Parliament, National Parliaments, and officials from other European institutions. The delegation met with the highest officials in Manama, visited Bahraini institutions and Bahrain’s Charter Monument, erected to celebrate and commemorate the day the National Charter of Bahrain was approved by a popular referendum.
